Twelve-Step Guide To Using The Alcoholics
Anonymous Big Book (2004)
This is a workbook: It
confirms the instructions I received for how to read the Big
Book “text” and how to find “precisely” how we recovered. It
contains no personal comments, editorializing, or sharing of my
actual experience. It is a book of instructions. Its purpose is
to guide individuals to and through the Twelve Steps as
contained in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. It is a
companion to the Big Book—a Rosetta stone that unlocks and
reveals the Big Book instructions for working each of the Twelve
Steps.

Twelve Steps To Spiritual Awakening
Enlightenment For Everyone (2010)
This book recaps the specific instructions in
the workbook but details the actual process and describes the author's personal
experience. It incorporates his interpretation of each step and
the influences on their development from AA history. Also, it
embraces the information from non-twelve step books he has read,
the guidance he has received from various mentors, and the
aggregate of experiences of his spiritual journey.

Herb’s sobriety date is February 21, 1984. In 1988, as the result of
working the steps as contained in the Big Book, with the guidance of a
‘Step Guide”, he experienced a profound spiritual awakening. Since then
he has been very involved in carrying the AA message through
sponsorship, facilitating workshops, and leading retreats. Many have
found the workbook helpful to accessing the precise instructions in the
Big Book. Herb is married (44 years to the same woman), has three adult
children, seven grandchildren, and lives in Rancho Palos Verdes,
California. Herb’s personal journey includes seven years in the
seminary, a graduate education in psychology, and a 40-year career in
human resources consulting (from which he retired in November 2006).
